December 22 To all Women's Officials: On December 3, Kay Yow announced the formation of the Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer Fund. The fund was established in partnership with the V Foundation and is committed to the fight against cancer through raising money for scientific research, assisting the underserved and unifying people for a common cause. The NCAA has joined forces with the WBCA and the Kay Yow Cancer Fund and has established the first national event, titled the 4Kay Run which will be part of the NCAA activities during the 2008 Women’s Final Four in Tampa on Saturday, April 5. Proceeds from the run will benefit cancer research through the Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer Fund. While we know the NCAA does not manage regular-season officiating, we wanted to provide this update on the work we are doing to support this initiative. We continue to look for ways to support this cause, and knowing cancer has touched all of our lives in one way or another, we thought this would be a tremendous opportunity to share with NCAA game officials. 1. Every NCAA Division I, II and III official will receive a pink whistle to be used from February 8 – 17 in conjunction with the WBCA’s "Think Pink" initiative. The goal is simple -- to raise awareness in the fight against cancer. As most of you know, our women’s teams will be wearing pink during this week-long celebration and we thought it only appropriate for NCAA game officials to have an opportunity to participate as well.2. Officials will have the opportunity to make a donation to the Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer Fund. Donations will be accepted via an online Web site as well as via mail. Once the site is live we will provide the link. It should be noted, there is no requirement for officials to take part in this program. Every official will be provided a whistle, regardless of whether they make a donation to the fund. This is simply an opportunity for NCAA game officials to participate, in a significant way, in this worthy initiative. Our plan is to present all funds raised by NCAA game officials (and coordinators) to the Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer Fund at the Women’s Final Four. We hope officials will join forces with the WBCA to support this great cause. We hope to get these mailed out just after the first of the year. Thanks to all for your support. We look forward to presenting a significant contribution to the Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer Fund to aid in its efforts to find a cure. If you have any questions or would like additional information, please don’t hesitate to contact me. Thanks, November 1

JOHN KIRK October 10 From our meeting at Madonna, we stressed the importance of adhering to the Bench Decorum Rule. The NCAA stresses this to me in every conference call, every meeting and every memo. Here is the final document, for your review. You ARE EXPECTED TO FOLLOW THIS TO THE LETTER. I'm not asking you to forget what good judgment is about, but this is the rule and it is a Point of Emphasis. Please review the only circumstances that a coach can be out of the coaching box prior to beginning the season and in every pregame conference. 2007-2008 BENCH DECORUM FINAL DOCUMENT
