How To Become An Official

 

Step 1) Contact the MHSAA and register. The registration process can be completed on line or by calling the office. You must register with the MHSAA to become eligible to officiate.

Step 2) Once you have registered, consider joining an Officials Association. There is a link on the MHSAA website (under the officials section) which outlines all of the approved associations in the state. The purpose of an officials association is for education, training and the betterment of officials. It also provides you with introductions to veteran officials and assignors.

Step 4) Consider subscribing to local and national publications such as Referee Magazine or Stripes. These publications contain valuable information for officials to become better educated and trained for their officiating career.
